titleOfInvention | Absorption of oxygen and carbon dioxide in disposable containers |
abstract | The present invention provides a long shelf life package containing a material for human consumption that degrades due to oxidation. The package includes an oxygen scavenger 28 containing a transition metal oxygen scavenger and a container 10 that is substantially impervious to oxygen. The container 28 has a filter 18 hung in the container 28, and the filter 18 holds a substance M for human consumption. The container 10 also holds the oxygen scavenger 28. In another embodiment, the present invention provides a long shelf life package with a material for human consumption that degrades by the release of carbon dioxide. The package includes a carbon dioxide scavenger and a container that is substantially impermeable to carbon dioxide. The container has a filter hung within the container, which holds a substance for human consumption. This container also holds the carbon dioxide scavenger. |
