abstract A cardiac imaging method for determining a myocardial region of interest (ROI) is disclosed. The method includes obtaining functional imaging data of a subject, the functional imaging data including at least the myocardium. From the acquired functional imaging data, an ROI including the myocardium at the maximum and a diagnostic parameter regarding the myocardium are estimated and quantified based on the determined ROI. In one embodiment, the ROI is determined from the projected image representation using histogram based thresholding and ray casting based localization to determine the ROI range. In another embodiment, the ROI is determined from the volumetric image representation utilizing deletion based on the clustering Manhattan distance to determine the heart angle used to reorient the left ventricle.
