titleOfInvention | Beta-adrenergic receptor agonists and uses thereof |
abstract | Provided herein are methods for improving function in retinal cells associated with diabetes and treating retinopathy due to diabetes in a subject. The method comprises contacting a retinal cell or administering to a subject a β-adrenergic receptor agonist such as having the chemical structural formula (I): [Chemical 1] Here, R 1 is (CH 2 ) n (CH 3 ) 2 or formula (II) in which n is 1 to 4, [Chemical 2] R 2 is H or HX in which H or X is a halide, and R 3 is O (CH 2 ) m CH 3 in which m is 0 to 4 at one or more C2-C6. Also provided are BAR agonists having a structure in which R 1 is a (CH 2 ) n -phenyl-R 2 substituent and the hydroxy-benzene moiety is 1,2-benzenediol or 1,3-benzenediol. [Selection figure] None |
