A substrate (24) is crosslinked with a second polyolefin such that the assembly (22) and the substrate (24) form a unitary structure having two separate layers (22, 24). A composition for forming an assembly (22) to be bonded. The method comprises a mixture of a crosslinking agent and a first polyolefin comprising a functional monomer (X) selected from an unsaturated carboxylic acid or dicarboxylic anhydride, an unsaturated carboxylic acid and an unsaturated epoxide. A composition, wherein the amount of crosslinking agent is 5% or more of the total weight of the composition. The composition comprising this functional polyolefin is suitable for use as a crosslinkable masterbatch. This masterbatch can crosslink polymers, particularly polyolefins, even in the absence of silane, and can increase adhesion to substrates (polymers, metals, metal oxides or silicon). In particular, it can be used for sealing solar cells. |
