titleOfInvention | Genes differentially expressed in cumulus cells and assays for identification of pregnancy-bearing oocytes using them |
abstract | Provide a genetic means to identify “bearing competent” oocytes. These means include detecting the expression level of one or more genes that are expressed at a characteristic level (up-regulated or down-regulated) in cumulus cells derived from an oocyte capable of pregnancy. . Using this characteristic gene expression level, i.e. the pattern referred to herein as "pregnancy signature", a causal condition that interferes with or prevents the occurrence of a viable pregnancy, such as a premenopausal condition, other hormonal dysfunction, Subjects with conditions such as ovarian dysfunction, ovarian cysts, cancer or other cell proliferation disorders, autoimmune disorders can also be identified. In a preferred embodiment, the pregnancy signature will comprise one or more of ABCA6, NCAM1, OLFML3, PTPRA, SDF4, GPR137B, DDIT4, DUSP1, GPR137B, IDUA, KCTD5, NDNL2, SLC26A3, and TERF2IP.
