Lubricant for cooling system |
abstract |
Polyol esters suitable for use as a lubricant or lubricant base stock have a kinematic viscosity at 40 ° C. of 200 cSt or greater and a viscosity index of 100 or greater. The ester contains a reaction product of (a) a polyhydric alcohol component containing at least 50 mol% pentaerythritol and (b) a carboxylic acid component, and the carboxylic acid component comprises (i) 2 to 7 At least one linear or branched monocarboxylic acid having 5 carbon atoms; (ii) at least one branched monocarboxylic acid having 8 to 15 carbon atoms; and (iii) 2 to 8 carbon atoms. At least one polycarboxylic acid having a ratio of the number of acid groups derived from monocarboxylic acid (i) to the number of acid groups derived from monocarboxylic acid (ii) from about 0.9 to about 1.1. And the number of acid groups derived from polycarboxylic acid (iii) is from about 15% to about 25% of the total number of acid groups derived from carboxylic acids (i), (ii) and (iii). |
