As used herein, a method of reducing bacteria in a subject's mouth, wherein the mouth is contacted (eg, rinsed) with an effective amount of a composition comprising a soluble derivatized chitosan, thereby causing the subject's mouth to be in contact with the mouth. Methods have been described that include reducing bacteria. Described herein are oral care compositions comprising a soluble derivatized chitosan. Exemplary methods using the compositions described herein include a method of reducing bacteria in a subject's mouth, agglutinating bacteria, and the resulting aggregated bacteria from a subject ( For example, a method of removing (from the subject's mouth) and destroying the biofilm in the subject's mouth is included. In some embodiments, the compositions described herein can be used to treat or prevent a disorder (eg, a disorder in a subject's mouth). |
