abstract [PROBLEMS] To provide a plant freshness-keeping agent and a freshness-keeping method that are excellent in human safety when eaten and that can maintain the freshness-keeping effect of a plant for a long time. The present invention provides a plant freshness-retaining agent comprising calcium oxide and magnesium hydroxide, wherein the weight of magnesium hydroxide relative to calcium oxide is 8% or more. A plant freshness-keeping agent in which calcium oxide and magnesium hydroxide are dissolved in water is introduced and grown, or the plant freshness-keeping agent is sprayed on the leaves of the plant.
