abstract |
A fuel cell using a novel non-platinum electrocatalyst having an electrocatalytic oxygen reduction ability comparable to platinum or an alloy thereof is provided. A fuel cell comprising: (i) an oxygen-reduced positive electrode comprising palladium-cobalt particles composed of at least zero-valent palladium and zero-valent cobalt, wherein the palladium-cobalt particles are fixed to a conductive support; (ii) negative electrode; (iii) a conductor connecting the oxygen-reduced positive electrode to the negative electrode; and (iv) A proton conductive medium in which the oxygen-reduced positive electrode and the negative electrode are in contact with each other.
