Certain photochromic ink compositions that are compatible with fountain solutions and useful for providing security information in variable data lithographic printing applications are provided. A process for marking a security feature on a substrate, comprising a photochromic material and a plurality of curable compounds, having a volume average Hansen fraction dispersion force parameter of about 0.4 to about 0.62. fd), a volume average Hansen fraction polarity parameter (fp) of about 0.1 to about 0.3, and a volume average Hansen fraction hydrogen bonding parameter (fh) of about 0.2 to about 0.4.
