titleOfInvention Artificial dielectric with nanostructure
abstract An artificial dielectric having a nanostructure is provided. An artificial dielectric using nanostructures such as nanowires is disclosed. In some embodiments, artificial dielectrics using other nanostructures such as nanorods, nanotubes, nanoribbons, etc. are disclosed. Artificial dielectrics include dielectric materials having a plurality of nanowires (or other nanostructures) embedded within the dielectric material. With artificial dielectrics using nanostructures, very high dielectric constants can be achieved. The dielectric constant can be adjusted by changing the length, diameter, carrier density, shape, aspect ratio, orientation, and density of the nanostructure. In addition, a controllable artificial dielectric using nanostructures, such as nanowires, that can dynamically adjust the dielectric constant by applying an electric field to the controllable artificial dielectric is disclosed. Various electronic devices can improve performance using artificial dielectrics having nanostructures. [Selection] Figure 4
