abstract | By using the image quality improving liquid more appropriately in different recording modes, it is possible to suppress the bronze phenomenon and the interference color, and improve the glossiness and color development. In the color mode, the image quality improving liquid is set to the same amount of 20% with respect to all input signal values. In contrast, in the monochrome mode, the amount is set to 30% in the highlight area, and the ink amount is gradually reduced from the intermediate gradation toward the high density area. As a result, the optimum recording method and usage amount of the image quality improving liquid corresponding to the image quality characteristics of the color mode and the monochrome mode can be adjusted. As a result, it is possible to reduce the coloring of the specularly reflected light while maintaining a certain level of image clarity in both modes, and it is possible to record a good image as both a color image and a monochrome image.
