abstract The present invention provides a lithium metal composite oxide having a layer structure that is particularly excellent as a positive electrode active material for a battery mounted on an electric vehicle or a hybrid vehicle. A lithium metal composite oxide having a layer structure is manufactured by mixing, pulverizing, and firing and pulverizing raw materials containing a lithium salt compound, a manganese salt compound, a nickel salt compound, and a cobalt salt compound. In this method, a method for producing a lithium metal composite oxide having a layered structure is proposed, which is pulverized by a high-speed rotary pulverizer having a rotational speed of 4000 rpm or higher after the firing.
