abstract The present invention provides a method for producing an optically active triptycene derivative in a high yield from a mixture of optical isomers of a triptycene derivative by a simple method. An optically isomerized mixture of a triptycene derivative having a functional group that can be acylated is allowed to act by preferentially acylating one of the optical isomers and not acylating with the acylated optical isomer. An optically active triptycene derivative is produced by separating the isomers. In the formula, R 1 to R 14 each independently represent a group having a functional group that can be acylated.
