abstract |
A reinforced fluoropolymer composite comprising surface functionalized nanocrystalline cellulose is provided. A reinforced fluorine-containing polymer composite comprising a fluorine-containing polymer and a fluorine-functionalized nanocrystalline cellulose in which the outer periphery of the nanocrystalline cellulose is functionalized with a fluorinated substrate is presented. Fluorofunctionalized nanocrystalline cellulose may be used to produce a stable dispersion having a fluoropolymer that exhibits high adhesion between the nanocrystalline particles and the fluoropolymer in the hybrid material.
