titleOfInvention | Functional implant with photocatalytic effect |
abstract | Provided is an implant that can exhibit the effect of a photocatalytic function under visible light, and can improve the antibacterial activity and cell adhesion and cell proliferation of the implant, and a method of using the implant. In a dental implant or the like, an n-type metal oxide semiconductor layer having a photocatalytic function is provided on the surface of an implant base material, and the crystal of the n-type metal oxide semiconductor is photoexcited by irradiation with light energy. Implant characterized by being changed. The light source of light energy is laser light, ultraviolet rays, X-rays or gamma rays, and irradiates an implant provided with an n-type metal oxide semiconductor layer. Implants whose photoexcited structure has been changed are used by irradiating ultraviolet light, laser light, X-rays or ultrasonic waves in addition to natural light, in order to develop a photocatalytic function more effectively immediately before use.
