abstract In a medical device having a wire coil made of a wire having a non-circular cross section such as a flat wire, necessary pushability and pullability are ensured. A medical device (for example, a catheter) has a long and flexible medical device body 300 that is inserted into a body cavity. The medical device main body 300 includes a long resin tube (sheath 16) and a wire coil 50 formed by winding a wire 52 having a non-circular cross-sectional shape in a spiral shape. The medical device main body 300 has a first section (for example, the distal end portion 15) and a second section (for example, the proximal end portion 17), which are sections different from each other in the longitudinal direction. In the first section, on the outer surface 52 a of the wire 52, the top portion P that is located farthest from the axis of the medical device main body 300 is located on the proximal side with respect to the center position C of the wire 52 in the longitudinal direction.
