A battery material manufacturing method includes an activation treatment step of alkali-treating a hydrogen storage alloy powder 11a, a liquid addition step of adding an alloy washing water 12 to the alkali-treated hydrogen storage alloy powder 11a, and an alloy washing water. A filtration step of filtering the alloy washing water 12 from the hydrogen storage alloy powder 11a to which 12 is added. The battery material manufacturing method includes a washing step of washing the pressurized dehydration tank 20 with the washing water 14 after the pressure dehydration tank 20 has filtered the alloy washing water 12 from the hydrogen storage alloy powder 11a in the filtration step. In the liquid addition step, the washing water 14 used for washing in the washing step is added to the alloy washing water 12 and added to the hydrogen storage alloy powder 11a. [Selection] Figure 1
