A YUCCA-specific inhibitor of IAA synthesis having a methimazole-like 5-membered ring structure represented by the following formula I, which inhibits the activity of YUCCA, a flavin monooxygenase, in the auxin biosynthesis pathway of plants. [Wherein, X represents a carbon atom or a nitrogen atom, Y represents a carbon atom, the bond between X and Y is a single bond or a double bond, and the bond between the nitrogen atom to which Y and R 1 are bonded.
