The present invention provides an optical laminate that has excellent adhesion between a polyester substrate and a hard coat layer, and can highly suppress the occurrence of azimuth and interference fringes in a display image of a liquid crystal display device. An optical laminate in which a primer layer is formed on a polyester substrate and a hard coat layer is formed on the primer layer, the polyester substrate having a retardation of 8000 nm or more. The difference (nx−ny) between the refractive index (nx) in the slow axis direction, which is the direction in which the refractive index is large, and the refractive index (ny) in the fast axis direction, which is the direction orthogonal to the slow axis direction. 0.07 to 0.20, and the refractive index (np) of the primer layer 12, the refractive index (nx) and the refractive index (ny) of the polyester base material 11 have a relationship of ny <np <nx. An optical laminated body in which the refractive index (nh) of the hard coat layer 13 and the refractive index (nx) and refractive index (ny) of the polyester base material 11 have a relationship of ny <nh <nx.
