abstract |
A surface acoustic wave element having a small propagation attenuation of a vertical leaky surface acoustic wave and an electronic component using the surface acoustic wave element are provided. A surface acoustic wave element includes a piezoelectric piece 101 made of a piezoelectric material, an IDT electrode 11a for exciting a vertical leaky surface acoustic wave on the piezoelectric piece 101, and a region in which the vertical leaky surface acoustic wave propagates. And a ratio of the phase velocity of the bulk longitudinal wave of the dielectric material to the phase velocity of the bulk longitudinal wave of the piezoelectric material is 0.95 or more.
