A liquid ejecting head including a piezoelectric element having a piezoelectric layer in which generation of cracks is suppressed is provided. A piezoelectric element comprising a piezoelectric layer and an electrode provided on the piezoelectric layer, wherein the piezoelectric layer uses a micro Vickers hardness tester and a diamond square pyramid having a facing angle α = 136 °.
