titleOfInvention | Bioactive ingredient containing no parthenolide from feverfew (tanacetamparthenium) and method for producing the same |
abstract | The present invention provides a bioactive component comprising an isolated bioactive fraction derived from cell juice of fresh biomass of feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium) plants. Any part of the feverfew plant can be included, including, for example, its leaves, flowers, shoots, stems, and roots. Fresh biomass is processed under conditions effective to produce cell juice supernatant and membrane fraction. The cell juice supernatant is processed under conditions effective to produce a first cell juice serum supernatant and a cytoplasmic fraction precipitate. The cytoplasmic fraction precipitate is then isolated as a bioactive fraction that is substantially free of α-unsaturated γ-lactones and in particular substantially free of parthenolide. Furthermore, the bioactive fraction has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity. [Selection figure] None |
