abstract | A quartz resonator element and a quartz resonator that can be further reduced in size are provided. A crystal resonator 10 has a configuration in which a crystal resonator element 1 having a rectangular crystal substrate 2 with one end 2a cantilevered by a base 13 of a package 12 is hermetically accommodated. The element 1 has a protruding portion 8 at at least one corner except for the widthwise central portion located at the one end 2a that is cantilevered and the other end 2b on the counter electrode side, and receives the protruding portion 8. Therefore, a convex pillow portion 18 is provided on the main body inner surface 12 c of the package, and the crystal resonator element 1 is held substantially parallel to the main body inner surface 12 c by the pedestal 13 and the pillow portion 18.
