titleOfInvention Systems and methods for motivating payments using radio frequency identification in contact and contactless transactions
abstract A transponder-reader payment system is provided. A transponder-reader payment system 100A includes a fob 102 that includes a transponder 114 and an RFID reader 104 that interrogates the transponder. The system may further include a payment device that is disconnected from the fob but associated with a payment account that is shared with the fob. In an exemplary operation, fob identification information or payment device information may be presented to the RFID reader for completion of the transaction request. The process server may receive the transaction request and respond to the transaction request according to predetermined payment criteria. The process server may further augment the earning point account based on fob or payment device usage, in one example to stimulate fob usage, and in another example, payment device usage.
