abstract |
A thiazolyltetrazolium salt with increased solubility in an aqueous solution for analysis of a biological sample for medical purposes, and an analytical method using the same. The compound has an alkylammonium alkoxy substituent which enhances solubility, preferably a thiazole ring having a trimethylammonium propoxy group substituent attached to a tetrazolium ring, and further on a phenyl ring. In the analysis of biological temples that use oxygen to oxidize analytes, thiazolyltetrazolium salts are used as color indicators to detect the presence of reducing substrates.
