Provided is a lithium secondary battery having good charge / discharge cycle characteristics and storage characteristics while using a material containing Si and O as constituent elements as a negative electrode active material. A negative electrode mixture layer containing, as a negative electrode active material, a material containing Si and O as constituent elements (provided that the atomic ratio x of O to Si is 0.5 ≦ x ≦ 1.5).
