abstract | A method for producing polyoxyalkylene ether acetic acid having high productivity is provided. A method for producing a polyoxyalkylene ether acetic acid comprising the following steps (1) to (3). (1) A step of obtaining a polyoxyalkylene ether as a raw material. (2) A step of reducing the alcohol having 4 to 22 carbon atoms contained in the polyoxyalkylene ether obtained in step (1) to 3.0% by mass or less. (3) A step in which oxygen is supplied to the liquid phase containing the polyoxyalkylene ether obtained in step (2) and water, and dehydrogenation is performed in the presence of a platinum catalyst to obtain polyoxyalkylene ether acetic acid.
