PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel PEGylated protein and a method for producing and using the same. The erythropoietin protein binds to one polyethylene glycol molecule or to two polyethylene glycol molecules. It is covalently bonded to at least one polyethylene glycol molecule through the amino terminus of the erythropoietin protein, but not via an aldehyde bond.
