abstract |
An armor having a plurality of impact resistances and a reduced weight. The armor includes a friction material that serves to prevent penetration of the ballistic projectile. The armor also serves to prevent penetration of multiple ballistic projectiles at a single point of impact. The armor may include a backing or exterior, or may include an intermediate layer in any combination between the backing and the exterior. Applied directly to or attached to the object 60 to be armored, covering all or any part of the object. The backing and sheath may include a friction material or a non-friction material.
