A method for synthesizing semi-crystalline polylactide (PLA) from lactide mixed with meso-LA and rac-LA is provided. When a mixture of racemic lactide and meso lactide is polymerized using a catalyst capable of selectively polymerizing L-lactide and D-lactide, racemic lactide and meso lactide are converted by utilizing the difference in physical properties of racemic lactide and meso lactide. By polymerizing separately, the meso lactide forms an amorphous polymesolactide block, and the racemic lactide forms a semicrystalline polyracemic lactide block, producing a semicrystalline polylactide as a whole.
