abstract The present invention provides an external preparation for skin containing spikelets or extracts thereof. Also provided are novel camerioside formulas (1) and (4) isolated from an extract. Furthermore, the manufacturing method of the skin external preparation and its nonclinical use are provided. Spikelets or extracts thereof and / or these novel cameriosides and analogs thereof are inhibitors of harmful enzymes (such as matrix metalloproteases, trypsin, chymotrypsin, hyaluronidase, lipase, and tyrosinase) present in the skin.
