abstract |
A pneumatic tire having a two-layer tread is provided. A pneumatic tire including a carcass and a tread located radially outside the carcass and extending between sidewalls, wherein the tread provides a tread running surface and includes a first rubber compound. Including a second rubber compound and a second radially inner tread layer, the second tread layer being located adjacent to the first tread layer in the radial direction, The two rubber compounds are different. The second tread layer includes a plurality of integrally formed extensions of the second tread layer extending from the second tread layer radially outward to the tread running surface. The first and second rubber compounds each contain at least 30 parts (phr) of silica per 100 parts of rubber.
