abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a layered silicate compound capable of obtaining large crystals. A method for producing a layered silicate compound comprising a hydrothermal treatment step in which a mixed aqueous solution containing SiO 2 and Na 2 O is reacted under hydrothermal conditions, wherein the hydrothermal treatment step is performed. In the hydrothermal treatment step, the container filled with the mixed aqueous solution and the medium ball is first subjected to hydrothermal conditions. After being placed for a predetermined time, the medium balls are removed, and the mixed aqueous solution is placed under a hydrothermal condition for a second predetermined time.
