abstract Information is recorded or reproduced with higher efficiency by using polarization holographic recording. An optical information recording apparatus includes spatial modulation means and information recording means. The spatial modulation means generates the polarization for the reference light and the polarization for the signal light, and uses the at least a plurality of spatial light modulators to convert the polarization azimuths of polarization components having different polarization azimuths of the polarization for the signal light. Information is added to the polarization components by changing each pixel individually. The information recording means records the information on the recording medium by irradiating the recording medium with the signal light and the reference light generated by adding the information to the polarization component.
