| abstract | An adapter capable of appropriately functioning various types of optical systems in a lens-interchangeable camera system is provided. An adapter is provided separately from a first mount portion to which a camera body can be attached and detached, a second mount portion to which an interchangeable lens can be attached and detached, and a camera attached to the first mount portion. An adapter control unit that converts the first control command received from the body into a third control command to be transmitted to the interchangeable lens, and the adapter control unit is different from the first control command received from the camera body.
