To provide a lithium ion secondary battery in which both initial output and high temperature high rate durability are above a certain level. A lithium ion secondary battery provided by the present invention includes a negative electrode active material layer including a styrene butadiene rubber, carboxymethyl cellulose, and a negative electrode active material.
