And An aromatic hydrocarbon having a branched alkyl group is selected from the group consisting of at least one ion selected from the group consisting of alkali metal ions and alkaline earth metal ions, protons and proton precursors. A method for producing an aromatic hydrocarbon having a linear alkyl group, wherein the catalyst is brought into contact with an acid-type zeolite catalyst obtained by ion exchange with ions of at least species.
