abstract A device configured for insertion into an anatomical structure, for example, a method for securing a strand end of a twisted self-expanding stent, and the resulting device is provided. The strand end portions 12 and 14 are substantially juxtaposed with each other as a result of the arrangement of a coupling structure 20 secured to the strand end portions 12 and 14 in a butt joint or butt configuration. The coupling structure 20 is fixed to the strand end portion 12 by welding forming the first weld region 22 and is fixed to the strand end portion 14 by welding forming the second weld region 24. The first welding region 22 is not connected to the second welding region 24 by another welding region, and the two welding regions are spaced apart and separated from each other.
