abstract A circuit (60) that counts the drip and monitors the rate of infusion is incorporated into the IV administration set (10). The circuit includes a pair of leads (40, 42) positioned in the path of the fluid droplet (18) so that each droplet contacts both leads simultaneously. Thus, the lead acts as a virtual switch that is closed by the presence of the droplet. This event is then displayed on the infusion signal device (80) to help the user adjust the infusion rate of the IV dosing set.
