Catalyst system for conjugated diene polymerization, polymerization process and resulting functionalized polymer |
abstract |
The present invention provides a novel catalyst system for polymerization, more particularly for the production of conjugated diene polymers bearing polar functional groups at the chain ends. The present invention is based on a metal salt of a rare earth metal and a metal belonging to Group II or Group XIII of the periodic table as an alkyl agent, and a polar functional group is converted to a diene during a conjugated diene polymerization step. The present invention relates to a catalyst system based on an organometallic compound that can be transferred to an elastomer. This novel catalyst system makes it possible to reduce the number of synthesis steps of the chain end functionalized elastomer, advantageously ensuring an optimum degree of functionalization close to or equal to 100%.
