abstract | The present invention relates to a method to assist in the diagnosis of cancer. The present invention discloses the use of seselnin-1 protein (= SCRN1) as a universal marker for different cancer types. Furthermore, the present invention particularly relates to a method for diagnosing cancer from a liquid sample by measuring SCRN1 in a sample derived from an individual. SCRN1 measurements can be used, for example, for early detection of cancer or surveillance of patients undergoing surgery. |
