System, method, and luminescence marker for improved diffuse luminescence imaging or tomography of scattering media |
abstract |
Disclosed are methods and systems for luminescent molecular imaging or tomography of a region of interest in a scattering medium. The system includes a non-linear luminescent marker material disposed in a scattering medium. Thereby, the contrast and resolution of imaging or tomography is improved. The non-linear marker is configured to up-convert incident light having an illumination wavelength, for example. The non-linear power dependence of the marker allows further improvement of imaging by using images obtained with two or more excitation beams at the same time. |
