abstract |
The present invention comprises (1) a water-soluble trivalent chromium salt; (2) at least one complexing agent for trivalent chromium ions; (3) sufficient hydrogen ions to bring the pH to 2.8-4.2. A chromium electroplating solution comprising a source; (4) a pH buffer compound; and (5) a chromium electroplating solution comprising a sulfur-containing organic compound. The chromium electroplating solution can be used in a method of applying an adhesive metal coating to a decorative article, and the coating has enhanced corrosion resistance in a calcium chloride-containing environment.
