titleOfInvention Templating systems and methods using particles such as colloidal particles
abstract The present invention relates generally to systems and methods for making, for example, composite materials, individually independent particles, and the like using particle templating. In some embodiments, the present invention generally relates to the creation of particles using interstitial spaces between templating elements in a template structure. For example, a plurality of templating elements (which can include colloidal particles) can be arranged to form a template structure. The gap between the templating elements can provide an area where fluid can be introduced. The fluid may be cured (eg, solidified) in some cases, for example, to form a composite material comprised of templating elements and gap segments. In some specific embodiments, the template structure can then be broken to release the cured fluid, for example, as a plurality of individually independent particles.
