abstract |
A process for the purification of methyl methacrylate (MMA) is described. The method includes contacting liquid MMA containing impurities with a sulfonic acid resin in the presence of formaldehyde or a suitable source of methylene or ethylene of formula I. (R 5 and R 6 are independently selected from C 1 to C 12 hydrocarbons or H; X is O or S; n is an integer from 1 to 100; m is 1 or 2. ). The compound of formula I may be a suitable source of formaldehyde. |
