titleOfInvention | Calcium phosphate nanoparticles used as a carrier system for photodynamic therapy |
abstract | According to the present invention, a pharmaceutical nanoparticle formulation carrying a photosensitizer and a method for preparing the nanoparticle formulation for photodynamic therapy are provided. The nanoparticle formulation includes auxiliary agents such as hydrophobic or hydrophilic photosensitizers, calcium phosphate nanoparticles, and, in certain cases, stabilizers. The calcium phosphate nanoparticle preparation of the present invention provides excellent storage stability and a therapeutically effective amount of photosensitizer for intravenous or topical administration. In a preferred embodiment, tetrapyrrole derivatives such as porphyrins, chlorins and bacteriochlorins are hydrophobic photosensitizers suitable for incorporation into calcium phosphate nanoparticle formulations for tumor photodynamic therapy. Furthermore, pTPPP is a hydrophilic photosensitizer suitable for tumor photodynamic therapy. In another preferred embodiment, hydrophilic cationic and anionic photosensitizers, in particular phenazinium, phenothiazinium and xanthene systems are known to be inactive pathogenic bacteria and antibacterial light It is a photosensitizer suitable for blending with calcium phosphate nanoparticles for mechanical therapy. In another embodiment, the photosensitized nanoparticle formulation helps to locate cells, tissues or bacteria using fluorescence imaging. [Selection] Figure 3-1 |
