titleOfInvention | Implantable ophthalmic drug delivery device and ophthalmic drug delivery method |
abstract | The present invention provides an implantable ophthalmic drug delivery device. Generally, the instrument has a distal portion having a coiled body member and a proximal portion in contact with the sclera. In one embodiment, the coil-shaped body member has a unique structure including two coil portions having different pitches, and the fitting property of the instrument to the eye is improved by the structure. In another form, the device has a proximal portion that includes a unique beveled structure having a distal concave surface that improves the stability of the device in the eye. In another form, the instrument encloses a transition between the bulk and the coiled body member to improve the stability of the instrument in the eye. The present invention also provides a method for fitting a medical device to the eye and a method for treating an eye disorder. |
