Methods for diagnosing or treating prostate cancer |
abstract |
The present invention provides a method for detecting and / or diagnosing cancer by determining the expression level of the STC2 gene. This gene was found to distinguish between cancer cells and normal cells. Furthermore, the present invention also provides a method for screening for therapeutic agents useful in the treatment of cancer and a method for treating cancer. Furthermore, the present invention also provides a double-stranded molecule targeting the STC2 gene that is suggested to be useful in the treatment of cancer. The compositions and methods of the present invention are particularly applicable to prostate cancer, more specifically castration resistant prostate cancer and invasive prostate cancer. |
