abstract The present invention provides methods and compositions for producing recombinant human factor VII (FVII), said method obtaining a Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell line expressing recombinant human FVII, Including culturing CHO cells in serum-free medium lacking insulin, wherein the production of FVII in the CHO cells is comparable to FVII production in the presence of insulin. CHO cells used in the above production method are obtained by continuously culturing a CHO cell line expressing recombinant human FVII modified for growth in serum-free culture while reducing the amount of insulin. Prepared to grow in cell cultures in the absence.
